Making art is my happy place
I studied fine arts at Bard College in New York. As a child I loved to draw and paint. My ‘first studio’ was behind a wall in the family’s finished basement.
After college I took many workshops to learn techniques such as water color, mixed media and the basics of mixing colors, design and the importance of a daily studio practice.
I enjoy the preparation for a painting. When it is about a particular time period, researching that era and looking for primary sources is part of the fun for me. I fall in love with my topic and research it with books, online photographic archives and digging deep.
In California I participated in local art shows, won awards, sold paintings at outdoor art fairs. I started an art critique group with my local artist pals and an outdoor sketch book group. Coming back East was a big move and I am happy to be here.
